First- very much enjoying your work......So- an observation. First- I think we all learn differently- and maybe what may look like confusion is simply a reassembly of our previous framing of our understanding of a concept. You can literally see people "looking inward" to try to understand things- that's not necessarily confusion. Finally- we put tremendous resources into getting computers to be more human- and here we are, I fear, having computers attempting to get us to be more like them in the way we learn......this may be just a step toward Ray Kurzweil's "Singularity".

Thank you for the nice note. And indeed -- increasingly many of these advances may be moving us to be more "machine like" and "machine readable" than human like.

Progress is an illusion with technology. Old vacuum tube radios sounded better, but the tubes broke easily. Commerical A.I. is control and domination presented as help. Anything that seems easy, anything that is pushed on you, and anything presented as a panacea is most assuredly a path to subservience and slavery.

My children are now adults but I’m seeing signs around the schools by parents fighting against the use of iPads in school. Not everyone wants their child essentially hooked up to machines.

"A Student's Prayer" by St. Thomas Aquinas would be a good "seed" for an "educator" LLM.

I just now thought for a second about whether this prayer - or any prayer for that matter - would be "directionally correct" for this purpose.

I am convinced that it is.

"Creator of all things, true source of light and wisdom, origin of all being, graciously let a ray of Your brilliance penetrate the darkness of my understanding.

"Take from me the double darkness in which I have been born, sin and ignorance.

"Give me a keen understanding, a retentive memory, and the ability to grasp things correctly and fundamentally.

"Grant me the talent of being exact in my explanations and the ability to express myself with thoroughness and charm.

"Point out the beginning, direct the progress, and aid in the completion.

"I ask this through Christ Jesus, our Lord.

"Amen."

There will always be a place for the richness of human connection no matter how humble or below superintelligence the communication. Humanity may eliminate the human element but we will be losing in the process.

If this works i am fascinated with the possibilities of learning with deficits in alzheimer’s and dementia patients. The potential seems tremendous.
